Bosnia Arrests Two for Killings of Serbs
First Arrest by an Ex-Yugoslav Nation from a Tribunal-Issued Warrent
THE HAGUE, May 2 (Reuters) — Bosnia has arrested two Muslims indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal for killing Serbs at a prison camp in 1992, the tribunal said on Thursday. Tribunal spokesman Christian Chartier said it was the first time that any of the former Yugoslav republics had exercised an arrest warrant issued by the tribunal.

He identified the two men as Hazim Delic and Esad Landzo who were indicted for crimes allegedly committed at the Celebici prison camp near the central Bosnian town of Konjic. Bosnia was expected to hand them over to the tribunal soon, he added.

The March 22 indictment against Delic, Landzo and two other suspects, Zejnil Delalic and Zdravko Mucic, was the tribunal's first for crimes by Muslims against Serb victims. Delalic, a Muslim who was arrested in Munich in March, has been charged with overall responsibility for atrocities at Celebici as the local Bosnian military commander. Germany is expected to hand him over to the tribunal soon.

Mucic, a Croat and the camp's commander, was arrested in Vienna and handed over to the tribunal on April 9. He has been charged with 14 murders. Delic, a deputy to Mucic, has been charged with four murders and Landzo, a camp guard, with five murders.

To date the tribunal has indicted 57 suspects — 46 Serbs, eight Croats and three Muslims. It currently holds three of them at its detention centre in The Hague — Bosnian Serb paramilitary Dusan Tadic and two Bosnian Croats: General Tihomir Blaskic and Mucic. Tadic's trial, the tribunal's first, is due to start next Tuesday.
