Berserkistan Navigator 40,000 Bosnian Refugees Have Returned Home

SARAJEVO, May 28 (Reuters) - More than 40,000 Bosnian refugees have returned to their homes over the past six months, Bosnian refugeee minister Nudzeim Recica said on Tuesday. "The ministry for refugeees and emigration has registered 40,000 refugees who returned to Bosnia, but the number must be higher," he told a Bosnian parliament session.

Recica said a total of 5,000 refugees would be returned home each month from Malaysia, Norway, Turkey, Macedonia, Pakistan, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, Croatia and the United States. "Over the next 20 days Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and probably Switzerland are expected to sign an agreement on unhampered transit of refugees," Recica said.

About one million people are believed to have fled Bosnia since April 1992 when war engulfed the country. The war stopped last December when the Dayton peace accord was signed in Paris. The president of the Bosnian commission for missing persons, Amor Masovic, said the Bosnian Serbs had released a total of 239 prisoners but were still holding 10 Muslims and Croats in Pale, their stronghold near Sarajevo in violation of the Dayton accord.

Masovic also said the authorities of rump Yugoslavia were holding 30 Bosnian citizens in the Padinska Skela jail near Belgrade. He said the Bosnian detainees had expressed a desire to leave for third countries.
